Hi guys, Moonlight Studios here.
With a little bit of work, me and some friends from over at OUYA Forum
were able to port the Android version of VLC over to OUYA with full controller
support. It's still in beta, and a little bit buggy, but still runs quite nicely and
plays a bunch of different codecs. Go download on Discover now!
What can VLC do that others can/can't?
- Play all you videos with different encodes, some cases up to 1080p! We have confirmed that
some people can get 1080p videos working butter smooth, while others can only get up to 720p.
Regardless, it seems to perform better than XBMC overall.
- Play music in backgroud! You wanna listen to your tunes while emulating PC Engine or playing
Muffin Knight? Use VLC! All your music can be started in a loop and played in the background all time!
- Play Music/Movies Right From Thumbdrive/USB! That's right folks, just put your movie on a USB thumbdrive that OUYA supports and watch away!
- Ton's on Codec compatibility! VLC has TONS on compatibility with different video/audio codecs, these include, but are not limited to MP3, MP4, MKV, MPEG-2, DivX, H.264, WebM, WMV, ISO, and more
- Open Source! Have any suggestions or want to help with the development of VLC OUYA? Let us know!
